Rejoice, 'Behind The Music' Is Coming Back!
It will of course be on a streaming service, but count me in for the return of "Behind The Music."
As streaming services continue to come for our attention and money, Paramount + is a fresh entrant.
On Wednesday, Paramount + announced some interesting offerings.
“We are thrilled to re-invent some of our most storied and impactful music franchises, including Behind the Music and Yo! MTV Raps, for Paramount+,” Bruce Gilmer, ViacomCBS President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, said in a statement. “In addition, we will partner with some of the biggest names across the music industry to bring exclusive and unique content to the platform, such as Dave Grohl’s Cradle to Stage based on his mom’s critically-acclaimed book, and many more to come.”
Cradle To The Stage with Dave Grohl sounds cool, and Yo! MTV Raps will be great if they don’t forget old school stuff. But the headline for me is the return of Behind The Music.
For those who are unfamiliar, Behind The Music was a documentary series that aired on VH1 and originally ran from 1997-2014. For our purposes here at Rock Pedia, the list of rock and metal bands/acts featured on the series was long. There were plenty of great episodes featuring artists from other genres too.
-Motley Crue
-Poison
-Ratt
-Aerosmith
-Ozzy Osbourne
-Metallica
-Judas Priest
-Quiet Riot
-Guns N’Roses
-Alice Cooper
-Megadeth
-Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more
I watched the Motley Crue episode of Behind The Music more times than I can count during its original run. The Poison and Ratt episodes also stand out as memorable for me.
So who will be “on the the next Behind The Music”? Lots of directions they can still go, including updates, across all music genres. But no matter who is featured, as a full nod to the music geek in me, I am here for it.
