On This Day: Ronnie James Dio reunites with Black Sabbath
On June 22, 1992, the product of Ronnie James Dio's reunion with Black Sabbath was released.
For mine (and a lot of people’s) money, Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are the two best Black Sabbath albums-with Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals. Dio left the band in 1982 to form the band that bore his surname, but eventually the idea of a reunion surfaced.
On June 22, 1992, the product of that reunion under the Sabbath name, Dehumanizer, was released. Of course the group-Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice-would come back together again under the name Heaven and Hell for a run before Dio passed away in 2010.
Two singles came from Dehumanizer, "TV Crimes" and "Master of Insanity." But one track, "Time Machine" was featured on the movie soundtrack for "Wayne’s World". The original and soundtrack versions are different, but check them both out:
