Dave Mustaine unveils possible title of new Megadeth album
Megadeth has been teasing work on a new album for months, and now we have a working title as well as a sample snippet.
The title track to Megadeth’s last album, 2016’s Dystopia, won a Grammy for “Best Metal Performance”. A 16th album has seemed to coming for months, as front man Dave Mustaine put a sixth-month battle with throat cancer in 2019 behind him and laid down his vocal and guitar tracks fairly recently.
Back in June, Mustaine suggested Megadeth’s 16th record would rank among the best it has ever done. It looks like 18 songs will make it to the final product.
“I think this is probably in the top four records as far as towards the tip of the spear with our career and everything that we’re doing,” Dave enthuses. “It’s up there with Countdown [To Extinction], Rust In Peace and probably Peace Sells. The other one I would say is Dystopia. So that would round up my top five.”
Over this past weekend, Mustaine appeared at Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp masterclass, and unveiled a tentative title for the album.
“The tentative album title we have right now is called 'The Sick, The Dying And The Dead'. We may change that, because there's some other titles, and I usually change the titles four or five times before I settle on anything."
Mustaine was also prompted to offer a short tease of the album, which you can see here. It really isn’t much, but it is something.
So, are you excited for new Megadeth? The release date for the new album is unknown. In the meantime, here are a couple classic songs to wet your appetite.
