Top 5 David Lee Roth songs
"Diamond Dave" will play out his Las Vegas residency and retire from music. Here are his best songs.
David Lee Roth, the former Van Halen frontman, will play five shows as the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas between now and Jan. 8, 2022 and call it a career. Via the Las Vegas Review Journal:
“I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring,” “This is the first, and only, official announcement. … You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.”
Roth acknowledged he has been thinking a lot about “the departure of my beloved classmate recently”, of course in reference to Eddie Van Halen’s death almost a year ago (Oct. 6, 2020).
After his departure from Van Halen, “Diamond Dave” had success as a solo artist. Van Halen fans are split between the Roth era and the Sammy Haggar era, but I confess I’m mostly right down the middle.
With Roth’s retirement announcement, here are my favorite songs from him-Van Halen and solo. Tell me your favorites in the comments.
5-"Everybody Wants Some" (Van Halen-Women And Children First-1980)
4-"On Fire" (Van Halen-Van Halen I-1978)
3- "Just A Gigolo" (Solo album-Crazy From The Heat, 1985)
2-"Yankee Rose" (Solo album-Eat 'Em And Smile-1986)
1-"Runnin’ With The Devil" (Van Halen-Van Halen I, 1978)
