Iron Maiden appears to have a new album coming in 2021
There are growing indications Iron Maiden going to release a new album this year...
If it were a song, it might be called “Trail of Tea Leaves.”
Back in October, Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson said the band had been “working together a little bit in the studio”, while adding “I can’t tell you, ‘cause they’d have to kill me.” Before that, via Blabbermouth, longtime producer Kevin Shirley posted a 2019 recap on social media alluding to an “unnamed but not-very-secret project” that left him with a “loud ringing in my ears.”
Now, during an appearance on Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, guitarist Adrian Smith said there are some “very, very exciting things in the pipeline.” Smith is promoting the debut album of his collaboration with Richie Kotzen, but I don’t think he was talking about a second album from that project.
Iron Maiden’s last album of new music was 2015’s Book of Souls, and they released a double live album last November.
Are you excited at the prospect of a new Maiden album sometime this year? Some might say their last great album was 1988’s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. I am cautiously optimistic a coming new product will be good, but not expecting something great.
