A KISS biopic is coming to Netflix
Plenty of books have been written about them, but Netflix is fast-tracking a KISS biopic
The success of KISS was as much about branding as it was live shows and the actual records. Multiple books have been written about the band—my favorites are Paul Stanley’s autobiography Face The Music and Take It Off, chronicling the band’s non-makeup era. Detroit Rock City, a fictional story about the quest of a group of young fans to see late-70’s KISS live, was a venture into movies.
According to Deadline, Netflix is close to closing a deal after a bidding war for a KISS biopic called Shout It Out Loud. Stanley confirmed the news, as he and Gene Simmons will reportedly have plenty of input.

The band’s most famous concert anthems will of course be a big part of the film. The story will start with friendship forged by Simmons and Stanley, to the enlistment of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in KISS to trying to stay relevant in the 1980’s. Deadline suggested it will akin to the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Netflix had success with an adaption of Motley Crue’s autobiography The Dirt, which also revived interest in that band, and they’re going back to the well here with KISS.
What do you think about a KISS biopic? Casting will be important. Will it be an honest look at the band, without favor toward Simmons and Stanley? Leave me a comment with what you think.
