My Top 5 Great White Songs
To honor the passing of lead singer Jack Russell, here are my top 5 Great White songs.
On Thursday, former Great White lead singer Jack Russell passed away at the age of 63. He had some health issues over the years, and he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia and multiple system atrophy in May of this year. On July 17, he released a statement announcing his retirement from touring, which he had been doing under the name “Jack Russell’s Great White” after a legal battle with his former bandmates.
"To my fans and friends, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I must announce my retirement from the road. After a recent diagnosis of Lewy body dementia (LBD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA) in May 2024, I am unable to perform at the level I desire and at the level you deserve. Words cannot express my gratitude for the many years of memories, love and support. Thank you for letting me live my dreams. You have made my life a wonder."
But let’s move on from the somber news and celebrate Russell’s work with Great White. The classification of them as a “glam metal” band in general news stories about Russell’s passing is simply not appropriate, but I digress.
Here are my five favorite Great White songs. Feel free to share your list in the comments.
5. “Old Rose Motel”
4. “Hiway Nights”
3. “House of Broken Love”
2. “Lady Red Light”
1. “Face The Day”
