On This Day: Black Sabbath releases second album with Ronnie James Dio
On Nov. 4, 1981, Black Sabbath followed the celebrated "Heaven and Hell" with arguably an even better album with Ronnie James Dio.
It might be sacrilegious to say the version of Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio was superior to the trailblazing version of the band with Ozzy Osbourne. It’s almost as sacrilegious to say the band’s second album with Dio is better than the celebrated debut album with the new vocalist, Heaven and Hell.
On Nov. 4, 1981, that second album, Mob Rules, was released. Let’s check out the track listing.
“Turn Up The Night”
“Voodoo”
“Sign of the Southern Cross”
“E5150”
“The Mob Rules”
“Country Girl”
“Slipping Away”
“Falling Off the Edge of the World”
“Over and Over”
The centerpiece track of Mob Rules is of course the sort of title track, “The Mob Rules”, which was done for the cult classic animated film Heavy Metal.
