On This Day, Yesterday: Van Halen releases For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge
On June 17, 1991, Van Halen released their third album with Sammy Hagar
Normally, I’d celebrate an anniversary of something in rock music with an “On This Day” post. But due to a bit of misinformation I wrote down months ago and didn’t find a second source on, yesterday (June 17) was actually the 30th anniversary of when Van Halen’s third album with Sammy Hagar, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, was released. In the tradition of their previous album, OU812, there’s a message in the title (the first letter in each word).
Ultimate Classic Rock put together a roundtable on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge that’s worth a read. The album yielded three singles-"Poundcake", "Top of The World" "Right Now", and deeper track that has shown up on my related Pandora and IHeartRadio feeds ("The Dream Is Over").
