The Top-10 Guitar Riffs of All-Time, according to some people
Total Guitar and Guitar World polled their readers to get a list of the top-10 guitar riffs of all time
Total Guitar and Guitar World polled their readers to find the greatest guitar riff of all-time. What was No. 1? “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin.
Via Blabbermouth, from the new issue of Total Guitar: "In 1969, the year Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, Jimmy Page launched his own giant leap for mankind.”
From that poll, there’s a top-10 list. Here’s #2-#10.
2-"Crazy Train"-Ozzy Osbourne
3-"Back In Black"-AC/DC
4-"Smoke On The Water"-Deep Purple
5-"Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love"-Van Halen
6-"Enter Sandman"-Metallica
7-"Iron Man"-Black Sabbath
8-"Walk"-Pantera
9-"La Grange"-ZZ Top
10-"Purple Haze"-Jimmy Hendrix
An Eddie Van Halen riff has to make this list, and "Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love" is as good as any. I don’t think "Iron Man" is even Tony Iommi’s best riff, but maybe I’m in the minority there. I have a slight issue with "Walk" and "La Grange" being on the list, but I’d have to think harder about replacements.
